A Thriller/Mystery novel with an educational background on project management

Why?!

In my life I have bought dozens of 'technical' manuals.
Started: all of them.
Read from beginning to end: none.
Concepts that have stuck with me over the long term: a couple.

Training many (Digital&Creative) Project Managers over the years, more than a few have asked me to put down on paper some of my collected history and knowledge, but I felt the need to find a new way.

Why a novel?
Because I believe that stories are the best way to transmit knowledge and experience.

Why thiller/mystery?
Because it is the type of literature I love the most.

In this book I wanted to tell a story made up of stories.

A plot that mixes elements inspired by reality and fantasy, but which aims to transmit concepts and methods that I have been using daily, for years, in my work.

Challenges, puzzles, twists and turns and a few touches of humour.

My aim is to introduce people to the world of project management in an original and engaging way, and perhaps enthuse others to creative problem solving.

Because even those who are not project managers by trade manage time, budgets and targets on a daily basis.

At work and in private life.

To deepen the aspects I have sown within the stories, I have created a private online site to provide further content and resources, which will be available to readers.

For whom

Project management professionals and project managers in training

An immersion into the world of project management, where each narrative turn reveals new insights into the challenges and key strategies of this profession. An educational experience disguised as a literary adventure.

Students of disciplines related to management and business organisation

An opportunity to explore the principles of project management through an intriguing mystery plot. A different way to consolidate theoretical knowledge and gain a practical perspective on project management.

Curious about the world of communication and its dynamics

A narrative foray into the complex dynamics of communication agencies, where project management becomes a fundamental art of bringing together creativity, resources and goals. A journey behind the scenes of a fascinating industry.

Anyone who manages time, budgets and targets on a daily basis.
In a word: everyone

A reflection of the real life we all face every day, where project management becomes the key to mastering chaos and achieving goals. A literary experience that speaks directly to our everyday working and personal lives.

To make my work available to the public I opted for CrowdPublishing

I chose them, but more importantly, they chose me and I am honoured.

This book stems, first and foremost, from a desire to ‘return’ the knowledge I have gathered over many years and to build interest around (Digital&Creative) Project Management.

For this reason, building an audience of interested readers is now more important to me than ending up on the shelves of a bookshop (which, by the way, I hope will happen).

The plot, in 1000 characters

Plan Island, a paradise island in the Pacific, designed by a multinational company as a refuge for digital nomads.

Eight women, different but united by the ‘Primal Mystery’ Writing Club, gather for the evening presentation of their stories, born from a theme assigned to each one in secret by Mr. G.

Stories of eccentric rich people, unexpected serial killers, creative fraternities, fatal advertising campaigns, deadly escape rooms, dystopian cities and team building with murder.

The tension is palpable, not only because of the eagerness to present one’s work.

What is happening?

What I can reveal to you as of now, is the ‘secret subject’ they received: Write a story that transfers educational themes of (digital&creative) project management.

Because the truth is that each of them is such a black belt in project management that they have been selected for an elite team.
The training is now over and an epic adventure awaits them, on the trail of Archia, Antikythera and H.L.Gantt.

But that’s another story.

A few words about me

I am a digital professional who started her career when the internet was still in its infancy.

I have held many different roles, from Database Administrator to Marketing Manager, via Developer, Tech Leader, Project Manager and Head of Project Management. I have seen a thousand things born and change, from the first apps to the first Beacons, from UX Testing to heat maps, from data mining to Design Thinking. All the way to inventing Project Management in Digital when the only foothold were WBSs for client/server implementations.

I worked for 22 years with major agencies, directly managing innovative projects for national and international brands and helping to train many project managers.

Normally, by this point in the discourse, most friends and relatives have already lost interest in the explanation.

That’s why, over the years, I have decided to try to sum it up in five words: I solve problems creatively.

It seems to work much better.
